While you may not be planning to have a baby in the near future, the data presented here should definitely make you think twice about taking tap water, a shower or a bath without removing chlorine or its byproducts.

Chlorine is particularly problematic. When it’s combined with sodium, it’s table salt, which is necessary for good health. On the other hand, when chlorine combines with any organic compound found in water (usually from decayed plants and bugs), these chloro-organic compounds are known as chlorine byproducts and are all known or suspected carcinogens.

Over the years, the medical industry has been promoting that the human skin does not absorb any chemicals. Therefore, making chlorinated water “totally safe”. But today, we know better. With the sales of seasickness patches, birth control patches and nicotine patches, just to name a few, we know that your skin most definitely absorbs chemicals. This is the primary reason why you want to remove chlorine from your water.

Below is an article from http://www.thisislondon.co.uk/newsheadlines/article-23489485-details/Chlorine+’may+cause+birth+defects’/article.do which illustrates the vital importance of removing chlorine and other toxic materials from your city water as well as your well water.

Chlorine ‘may cause birth defects’.

Tap water treated with chlorine can double the risk of serious heart and brain abnormalities in unborn babies, say scientists.

Researchers who studied almost 400,000 infants born in Taiwan found that high levels of chlorine byproducts in tap water could affect the development of babies in the womb.

A significant impact was seen on the likelihood of babies being born with three common but serious types of abnormality.

They were ventricular septal, or “hole-in-the-heart” defects, cleft palate, and anencephalus – a condition that causes much of the brain, skull and scalp to be missing at birth.

The byproducts linked to these defects are called trihalomethanes.

Tap water concentrations of the chemicals above 20 micrograms per liter were associated with a 50-100% higher level of risk than concentrations below five micrograms.

The findings, from a team led by Professor Jouni Jaakkola at the University of Birmingham, were published in the journal Environmental Health.

All public-supply tap water is chlorinated in the UK and the US, to get rid of microbes that can cause diseases such as cholera and typhoid. However the trihalomethane content of tap water varies according to its source. Water that has run off farmland and contains a lot of organic chemicals is more likely to contain the by-products.

The Drinking Water Inspectorate (DWI), which acts as the guardian of water quality on behalf of the Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs (Defra), said its own research had been unable to confirm a link between trihalomethanes and birth defects.

Winston’s Comment

Most countries who are somewhat sane in the sense of wanting to protect their citizens and keep them from getting sick subscribed to the use of ozone to treat drinking water. For ozone or O3 is a powerful oxidant that is an incredible disinfectant.

As a matter of fact, Los Angeles has one of the world’s largest ozonating water processing plants on the Planet. But what do they do to the water after they have Ozonated it? They comply with the law . . . by adding chlorine, then ammonia, then fluoride. Now the water is perfectly clean with tons of toxic industrial waste.

And are we supposed to believe that this is good for our health? Considering that the United States is holding the first place with the highest rate of cancer, diabetes, and heart disease, it is obvious that our food, water, and air are seriously detrimental to our health.

This is my belief that unscrupulous people with incredible amounts of power and the ability to control the media has executed their plans to create sick and diseased population. Let me list some of the obvious standard procedures that are seriously insane.

1. We use chlorine instead of ozone to disinfect our water.

2. We make it mandatory to use chlorine.

3. We are told that RO (Reverse Osmosis) water, which has a pH of 5.5-6.4, is good for you. Of course, it acidifies one’s body.

4. We are taught that the four food groups pyramid that we should mostly eat grains, breads, starches, which all are acid forming.

5. The average teenager consumes enough high-fructose corn syrup to ensure that they are so acidic that they will be candidates for diabetes in their 20s. [In 1990 to 2000, just 10 years, the diabetes rate jumped 489%!]

6. We are taught to avoid the most highly nutritious foods such as butter and all of the high density fats like coconut oil, beef fat, and chicken fat. And replace it with polyunsaturated low-density oils like canola oil, corn oil, soybean oil, and olive oil.

7. While olive oil may be a healthy oil to eat, it doesn’t have much energy in it.

8. How many of us are walking around feeling run down, low in energy, and somewhat not quite there, little mind fog, and scattered minded.

While the list can go on for several pages, I think that one of the first things that one needs to do is stop taking a bath with chlorinated water. Even a cheap shower filter that can only remove chlorine without the ability to remove the chloramines and fluorides is still a major improvement and should definitely be done.

Obviously, the correct solution is to have a whole house filtration system that fully removes all of the chlorine, chloramines, fluorides, and all the other heavy metals and chlorine byproducts.

The important thing is that we all need to start doing something on a daily basis to improve our health, to lower the level of toxicity that we consume daily. This to me is your minimum viewpoint to be responsible for yourself and for your family.
